About psychotherapy

Generally speaking, psychotherapy is talk therapy in which the client and therapist form a trusting relationship that allows for safe and collaborative discussion and exploration of different ways to understand, solve and make meaning of life's challenges.

About therapy with me

When you engage in therapy with me, we'll talk about things you are distressed about, challenging life events, relationship patterns, and roadblocks that are getting in the way of your happiness and fulfillment. We'll laugh and celebrate victories, and we'll also sit together during painful times and build your resilience. I'll listen to your life stories, offer perspective, and be a witness to your personal growth.

My work is heavily influenced by Humanistic Psychology and the belief that people have the capacity to make rational choices and develop to their maximum potential. I am here to show respect and concern for you as a person, help you sort through what is happening in your life, as well as what might not be serving you well.

Depending on what you are looking for, I'll draw from a variety of theories in our work together including:
  • Psychodynamic - Exploring how childhood experiences are affecting current relationships and behaviors.
  • Gottman Method - A research-supported therapy for conflict resolution.
  • Narrative Therapy - Re-storying the events in your life to find meaning and resolution.
  • Solution Focused Therapy - Helping you to begin to make changes in the direction you'd like your life to be going in.
